TALLOW
Tallow is a powerful moisturizer loaded with a wealth of nutrients: vitamins, essential fatty acids and antioxidants. It offers antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties to help soothe irritated skin. Tallow and sebum share many of the same lipids in similar concentrations, which allows tallow to absorb deep within the layers of the skin. Tallow does not clog pores or cause irritation; it is high in CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), which soothes and decreases redness in irritated or acne-prone skin. Abundant in vitamins A, D, K, and E, tallow helps to protect the skin from free radical damage, thus reducing the signs of aging. Its topical use increases collagen production and stimulates blood flow to the skin, keeping it smooth and firm.
ALOE VERA
Aloe vera possess superb hydrating and cooling properties. Rich in vitamins, minerals, and anti-inflammatory compounds, it is used to heal sunburn, lessen the discomfort from bug bites, diminish skin redness, itching and peeling, as well as to treat a variety of skin conditions, such as frostbite, psoriasis, eczema and cold sores. Aloe vera stimulates collagen production, reduces inflammation and boosts skin cell turnover, thus diminishing the appearance of scars and brightening your skin. Applied persistently, it helps to increase skin elasticity over time and slows the signs of aging.
SODIUM HYDROXIDE
Making soap requires sodium hydroxide (lye), water, and oil to start the chemical process of saponification. While a fair amount of lye may be used to create the soap, a properly finished product doesn’t contain sodium hydroxide anymore.
LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL
Lavender essential oil is rich in antioxidants that nourish your skin and protect it from environmental toxins and pollutants, ultimately aiding in preventing cellular damage, uneven skin tone or hyperpigmentation. Antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of lavender essential oil make it a common remedy used to speed up healing of wounds, cuts, burns, sunburns, and bug bites, as well as to treat acne, psoriasis, and other inflammatory conditions. In addition to soothing inflammation, lavender oil is known for its calming benefits— it effectively reduces redness and skin irritation. Lavender essential oil has also been shown to regenerate skin cells, which makes it great for restoring bright skin tone, reducing sun spots and removing scarring. Lavender essential oil is used in aromatherapy to improve mood and promote relaxation.
MICA POWDER
Mica is the name given to a group of silicate minerals used in makeups. Ground mica has reflective properties, delivering a shimmery effect. Mica minerals are considered a better option for use on skin than products containing artificial dyes likely to cause irritation.
